"Awalnya kami mempersiapkan hanya untuk 16 peraih medali emas sama seperti target dari pemerintah. Namun, ternyata Indonesia bisa meraih 31 medali emas. Saya sempat terkejut, tapi komitmen tetap harus dijalankan dan kami akan memberikan apresiasi kepada seluruh atlet yang berprestasi," ujar Simon Jonathan.
Pesilat putra Indonesia, Hanifan Yudani Kusumah, yang mewakili para atlet bersyukur atas apresiasi yang diberikan kepada mereka.
"Saya berterima kasih kepada Extra Joss yang telah memberikan apresiasi kepada pejuang bangsa Indonesia. Semoga apresiasi ini bisa memberikan tambahan motivasi menghadapi multievent berikutnya, baik SEA Games 2019 di Filipina maupun Olimpiade 2020 di Jepang," ujar pesilat yang memeluk Presiden Joko Widodo dan Ketua IPSI Prabowo Subianto saat dirinya meraih medali emas itu.
Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga, Imam Nahrawi, juga mengapresiasi langkah PT Bintang Toedjoe dalam memberikan penghargaan kepada para atlet Indonesia. Menpora berharap penghargaan ini bisa berlanjut hingga Asian Para Games 2018 digelar di Jakarta pada Oktober mendatang.
"Ini bukan pertama kalinya Extra Joss memberi dukungan terhadap olahraga Indonesia. Tidak hanya di Asian Games saat ini, tapi sudah sejak Olimpiade 2016 di Rio de Janeiro," ujar Imam Nahrawi dalam sambutannya.
"Semoga Pak Simon dan jajarannya juga akan memberikan bonus yang sama kepada atlet berprestasi yang nanti berjuang di Asian Para Games. Perjuangan kita belum selesai karena masih ada Asian Para Games pada Oktober mendatang dan pemerintah juga telah menargetkan 16 medali emas," lanjutnya.
