INDOSPORT.com – Indonesia tergabung dalam Grup B bersama Thailand, Singapura, Filipina, dan Timor Leste di ajang Piala AFF 2018.
Piala AFF akan digelar 8 November sampai 15 Desember mendatang. Sejumlah tim negara peserta terus menggembleng persiapan mereka guna tampil maksimal di turnamen 2 tahunan tersebut.
Akan tetapi, Thailand justru mengalami kendala dalam persiapan. Pelatih Timnas Thailand, Milovan Rajevac, dipastikan kesulitan memanggil sejumlah pemain bintang tim Gajah Putih.
Dilansir dari Twitter @ThaiFootballs, Rajevac memastikan bahwa ia tidak akan mengikutsertakan 3 penggawa andalannya, yaitu Kawin Thamsatchanan, Chanathip Songkrasin, dan Teerathon Bunmathan.
Ketiga pemain tersebut tidak akan memperkuat Thailand dalam laga uji coba melawan Hong Kong dan Trinidad & Tobago pada bulan Oktober.
Rajevac tidak memanggil mereka lantaran ketiganya tidak akan memperkuat Thailand di Piala AFF nanti. Hal itu disebabkan oleh para pemain yang tidak mendapatkan izin dari klubnya masing-masing.
Saat ini, Kawin merumput bersama klub OH Leuven di divisi B Liga Belgia, sementara itu Chanathip dan Theerathon merumput di J-League.
Indonesia sedikit diuntungkan dengan kondisi tersebut. Hal itu diperkirakan bakal mengurangi kekuatan Thailand di Piala AFF nanti.
Akan tetapi, mereka masih memiliki sejumlah pemain hebat, seperti Teerasil Dangda, Sarach Yooyen, Tanaboon Kesarat, dan Charyl Chappuis.
Piala AFF tahun ini bakal menggunakan format baru dengan system kandang dan tandang. Indonesia akan menjamu Thailand (17/11/18) di Stadion Rajamangala, Thailand.
