INDOSPORT.COM - Penyerang Perseru Serui, Silvio Escobar saat ini dilaporkan sedang mengurus status kewarganegaraanya dari Paraguay menjadi WNI. Namun, ia belum mau berbicara lebih jauh terkait proses perpindahannya.
Escobar tidak ingin berbicara banyak soal naturalisasi dan memilih fokus membawa klubnya keluar dari zona degradasi.
"Jangan bicara soal itu dulu (naturalisasi). Mudah-mudahan, kita harus lihat ke depan bagaimana. Nanti kalau sudah jadi akan kasih saya tahu. Mudah-mudahan dalam waktu dekat," ucapnya.
"Saya kurang tahu (berapa persen) prosesnya," imbuh Escobar.
Pilihan Escobar menjadi WNI tidak lepas dari kecintaannya ke Indonesia. Selain sudah cukup lama tinggal sejak 2013 lalu, pria 32 tahun itu juga memiliki seorang istri dari Indonesia.
Lebih lanjut, pemain yang sudah memutuskan mualaf sejak tiga tahun lalu itu juga tak ngebet membela Timnas Indonesia jika sudah sah menjadi WNI. Menurutnya, hal terpenting adalah bagaimana ia tampil baik di klub, sehingga secara otomatis terpantau tim pelatih skuat Garuda.
"Mungkin nanti orang melihat dari pekerjaan saya, mudah-mudahan. Semua pemain ingin main di Timnas, tapi kalau sekarang saya fokus di Perseru," ujar Silvio Escobar.
"Nanti kalau sudah jadi WNI, dan dipanggil, alhamdulillah," tutupnya.
Escobar memang sudah tidak muda lagi, tahun ini berusia 32 tahun. Namun, penampilannya di dua musim terakhir terbilang cukup baik bersama Perseru. Eks Bali United itu mencetak 9 gol di musim lalu dan kini sudah melesakkan 6 gol.
